There's nothing that warms our heart more than when castmates from our favourite shows are real-life friends, so when Ncuti Gatwa posted an adorable message for his "Sex Education" costar Emma Mackey we couldn't help but smile. The actor attended the screening of Mackey's latest period film "Emily", in which she plays the titular role, and the pair were snapped sharing a cuddle in the cutest reunion.

Not only were the pair beaming from ear to ear at the sight of each other, but Gatwa's support of Mackey was proven on social media. Posting a carousel of snaps on Instagram from the evening, Gatwa captioned his photos, "no excuse me but my heart is bursting 💖Emily is such a beautiful movie but Emma's performance…Emma's performance 😩 Is. Something. Else. No words other than I couldn't be prouder. Obviously had to wear the right shoes to support my wife 😌"

The shoes he references are the custom-made Nike Air Force 1s that he wore for the event, that were embroidered with the "Barbie" logo. The sweet addition was a nod to the highly-anticipated Greta Gerwig film that both he and Mackey are starring in together alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

The dynamic duo have come a long way since Moordale Secondary School. Not only are both Gatwa and Mackey returning for season 4 of "Sex Education", with Dan Levy as the newest cast member to sign up, but they have both been working on challenging roles which prove their acting credibility. From Mackey portraying Emily Brontë to Gatwa's casting as The Doctor in "Doctor Who", the world is most certainly their oyster and, with each other's support, their stars will continue to shine.
