The Promise is one of the best Girls Aloud songs, but the video is a bit of a letdown. The sequinned dresses are great (and this is where Cheryl first discovered huge hair), but the secondary string where the girls smugly watch themselves feels like a bit of a wasted opportunity. Imagine this song with an Austin Powers-inspired, "Love Machine"-era comedy video. Now that would have been wonderful.
