According to Elvis Australia, the rockstar began dating actor Sheila Ryan in 1973 after meeting each other in Las Vegas. The pair was together while Elvis was also in a relationship with Thompson. "He was seeing her and then I came along and then it was sort of like a horserace," Ryan said about competing for Elvis's attention. Ryan and Elvis broke up sometime before 1976, which was the year she married James Caan.
