A new Bill & Ted movie in the works? Excellent. According to The Hollywood Reporter [1], original stars Keanu Reeves [2] and Alex Winter will star in the film, which is being promoted at Cannes under the working title Bill & Ted Face the Music.

While Reeves seemingly refuses to age [3], his character won't be a teenager in the new installment of the nostalgic '80s franchise; the upcoming film will follow Bill and Ted as they struggle to create the perfect song despite reaching middle age, eventually time-traveling to find inspiration for their music.

The Story

Bill & Ted Face the Music follows the same model as the first two installments of the trilogy; Bill and Ted travel through time and get into a world of shenanigans. The now middle-aged friends will set out on a new adventure to fulfill their "rock & roll destiny" after a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they'll be helped by their families, old friends, and a few music legends.

The Cast

Of course, Winter and Reeves will be back as William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. and Theodore "Ted" Logan, respectively. The film's synopsis says that the two will be helped by "their families, old friends, and a few music legends." Who those old friends and music legends are is still being kept under wraps, but we have seen the duo meet some pretty legendary folks before, including Joan of Arc, Billy the Kid, and the Grim Reaper. Who knows who they could cross paths with this time!

The Director and Writers

While the movie is set to be directed by Galaxy Quest's Dean Parisot, the screenplay sees the return of franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
