Start Your Engines — Here's Everything You Need to Know About Fast and Furious 9

Hobbs and Shaw hasn't even hit theatres yet, but production for Fast and Furious 9 is already set to begin later this month. The plot for the next instalment is still unknown, but if the previous movies have taught us anything, it's that we can expect the film to be set in an international location, have lots of crazy car chases, and crack a few jokes about Roman Pierce's big head. Of course, Vin Diesel, Tyrese, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster will all be returning, but a new member has just been added to the family! As we wait for production to officially begin, here's everything we know about Fast and Furious 9.

1. The Cast

Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Jordana Brewster will all be reprising their roles as Dominic "Dom" Toretto, Letty Ortiz, Roman Pearce, and Mia Toretto, respectively. But the Fast and Furious family just added a new member: John Cena! In June, the 42-year-old WWE wrestler tweeted, "For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It's an incredible honour to join this franchise and this family." His role still has yet to be revealed.

It's still unclear whether Dwayne Johnson will be a part of the next instalment. In fact, the actor has no idea either. When asked if he was going to make an appearance in the film during a stop on Watch What Happens Live back in July 2018, Johnson said he was "not quite too sure" and that it was still "kind of up in the air." Given that I'm a huge fan of The Rock, I certainly hope he's a part of it, because what's Fast and Furious 9 without Luke Hobbs, right?

Fast and Furious 9 is set to hit theatres on May 20, 2020. The film was originally set to debut a year earlier on April 19, 2019, but according to Gibson, it got pushed back because of Johnson and Statham's Hobbs and Shaw spinoff.
