Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Premiere Recap

The 8 Biggest Things to Remember After That EPIC Grey's Anatomy Premiere

Warning: spoilers below!

We made it to the 15th season of Grey's Anatomy, and the exciting new chapter of the series arrived with quite a splash. We've got Maggie falling apart as she tries to keep a major secret, there's a new gay romance blooming (and I am here for it), that one upcoming love triangle is already picking up steam, and Meredith is having a lot of sex dreams. We know two hours is a lot to take in at once, even for experienced bingers, so we're going over the biggest takeaways after the episode. We'll need them in the harrowing weeks ahead!

1. Meredith Is a Little Sexually Frustrated

As we suspected, Meredith does not actually have sex with DeLuca in the season premiere. It's a sex dream! One of a few sex dreams, actually. The truth is that our strongheaded heroine is starting to come around to the idea of having a new man in her life. If the sex dreams weren't enough of an indicator, she decides to recruit her patient, a professional matchmaker, to help her find love.

2. The Interns Are a Love-Sick Mess

And I mean basically all of them. We find out a few new interesting things about our interns in the premiere. For one, we find out Helm is actually interested in women, specifically Dr. Grey. Our matchmaker patient talks her down from that one — don't worry.

Glasses, it turns out, may be a bit confused about his sexuality. (Or maybe he's bi!) He appears to get a bit flustered whenever the new gay surgeon, Dr. Nico Kim, is in the vicinity. At the end of the premiere, Kim even buys him a drink.

In the first half of the premiere, Carina DeLuca consults on a case in which a man has, well, gotten a canister of hairspray stuck inside him. Carina goes on a tangent about the male G spot and where it's located, and then she talks about how some men, even straight men, enjoy anal pleasure. Vikram, who is present for the whole conversation, seems very interested in what she has to say. By the time she leaves, Vik has already developed a crush.

As for Casey and Dahlia, they're a little more up in the air. We do know Dahlia had a big crush on Jackson at one point, but for the time being, they're focussed on other things.

3. Teddy Arrives . . . Then Promptly Decides to Leave

Whew, the timing on this one is pretty tough. Teddy arrives in Seattle and heads straight to Owen's house, where Betty answers the door. Yikes. Betty says Owen and Amelia are asleep, and Teddy is like, "Nope!" She tells Bailey she can't take the job as interim chief and attempts to get out of Seattle, STAT. The problem is she's having some complications with her pregnancy (you know, the one caused by Owen) and can't really leave. But that won't stop her from trying, damn it!

4. Amelia and Owen Are on, Then Off, Then on, Then Off

This one's a roller coaster. After everything they've been through, Amelia finally decides that yes, she does have feelings for Owen. They start to make out until the baby interrupts them. The next day, Owen isn't so sure. Do they really want to risk everything they've got going? The two are thrown for a loop worrying they may lose the family they've spent months building.

By the end of the day, Owen has come around. He's ready to do this. But Amelia, suddenly unsure, turns him down. My heart!

5. The New Doctors Have Arrived

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Atticus "Ortho God" Lincoln. What a mouthful! He's just as charming as we thought he'd be — don't worry. And while new gay surgeon Nico Kim didn't get a ton of shine, we're sure things will heat up in the weeks to come. After all, he seems to have the hots for Glasses.

6. Jo and Alex Have Quite the Strange Honeymoon

Time to check in with the newlyweds! Alex and Jo seem to be having quite the relaxing time on their honeymoon . . . until Jo gets a crazy new idea that could change the face of medicine. She spends the rest of the holiday fleshing out the idea while Alex talks about how he wants kids and does a lot of sunbathing. Par for the course!

The couple goes back to Seattle, and Jo decides she's not going to Boston. She pitches her crazy idea to Bailey, who thankfully is game to see where this might go.

7. Jackson and Maggie Are Falling Hard

After all the stuff with April (and her almost-death), Jackson seems to have turned a new leaf. He's starting to think divine intervention saved April, and then he almost gets hit by a car. This really throws him for a loop, and he starts thinking about his mortality in a serious way. He blurts out an impromptu proposal to Maggie, who is like, "Um, WTF?"

By the end of the premiere, Jackson seems to have calmed down a bit. He tells Maggie he loves her, and she returns the sentiment. Aw!

8. Bailey Picks Her New Interim Chief

With Teddy out, Bailey is desperate to find a temporary replacement so she can go on a little sabbatical. Many lob themselves at her in hopes of getting the job: Webber, Meredith, and Amelia are among those vying for the position. In the end, Bailey just gives it to Alex, who happens to be around when Jo pitches her crazy new medical idea. I mean, we'll take it.
