Toy Story 4: Trust Us, You Don't Want to Skip Out Once Those Credits Start Rolling

24/06/2019 - 02:05 PM

You didn't really think Toy Story [1] would end a film without a special treat for the audience, did you? Much like previous instalments of the franchise, Toy Story 4 [2] has both a mid-credits scene and a postcredits scene, giving fans a double dose of fun after the film concludes. Both sequences take place after the film's sweet (yet still heartbreaking) ending and expand a bit on the world as we've left it.

Spoilers for Toy Story 4 ahead!

After rescuing Bonnie's new toy, Forky and giving his voice box to the film's antagonist turned toy-with-a-heart-of-gold Gabby Gabby [3], Woody realises that his time living as one kid's toy has come to an end. He says goodbye to Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang, deciding to stay with the travelling carnival alongside Bo Peep and the other free toys.

It's a bit of a bittersweet ending with Woody saying goodbye to everything he's ever known to embark on a whole new adventure with the love he lost, but it's still a hopeful one. Forky is safely returned to Bonnie and gets ready to live a life not destined for trash, with all the other toys. The two sequences that follow give a sweet peek at how those two paths work out for everyone, so it's totally worth staying in your seat for a bit longer! Keep reading to see how it all shakes out.

Is There a Mid-Credits Scene in Toy Story 4?

The film's mid-credits scene shows us how life with the travelling carnival is now that Woody, Bo Peep, Duke Caboom, Ducky, Bunny, and Giggle McDimples have banded together. Wise to the standard trickery that prevents kids from winning carnival games and getting the stuffed prizes they so badly desire, the toys work their magic to ensure that the waiting toys go home with kids. Whether that means pitching some fast balls or all out cheating, the toys do what needs to be done until all the toys are happily in the arms of a kid to care for them. And despite Ducky and Bunny's devious schemes, they don't enact revenge against the game operators. Though we would have been interested in seeing whether the duo actually has laser eyes or not . . .

Is There a Postcredits Scene in Toy Story 4?

Back in Bonnie's room, a familiar scene plays out. Just like Woody did in the beginning of the film, Jessie returns from a day at school with Bonnie to announce that she's made a new friend. As in, she actually made a new friend. Introducing . . . well we never learn her name, but she's a knife with a great head of hair and Forky is instantly in love! When the newcomer starts calling out for trash, much like Forky did when he first gained sentience, the spork is ready to aid her transition into toyhood and a great romance is undoubtedly born.
