Brimming with seasoned and new talent, the cast of Shazam! [1] is almost as power-packed as the title superhero himself. At the front and centre of the DC Extended Universe movie is none other than Zachary Levi [2], who's well-known for being the lovable protagonist on Chuck and the smouldering thief [3] in Rapunzel. Right by his side as his kid alter ego Billy Batson is Disney Channel star Asher Angel, who plays Jonah Beck on Andi Mack. The two actors make for a playful duo, and you can definitely see their chemistry immediately working its magic in the zany trailer [4].
Along with the leading pair, the film boasts big names in the industry, including Mark Strong, Djimon Hounsou [5], and Adam Brody [6]. Additionally, it features talented stars on the rise such as The Walking Dead's Cooper Andrews [7] and 13 Reason Why's Ross Butler [8]. Zachary Levi as Shazam
Zachary Levi [9] will play the titular character, aka the bulked up superhero version of Billy Batson. You might know Levi from the spy TV show Chuck and the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Asher Angel as Billy Batson
Asher Angel will portray Billy, the wayward kid who turns into Shazam. The 16-year-old actor is best known for his role on Disney's Andi Mack as the title character's boyfriend, Jonah Beck.
Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana
Mark Strong is set to play the physicist Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, who himself had been summoned by the wizard Shazam as a child. The English actor has had a prolific career in film, theatre, and television. He is known for his role as Merlin in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle [10].
Djimon Hounsou as Shazam (the Ancient Wizard)
Djimon Hounsou [11] will bring to life Shazam, the ancient wizard who gives his powers to Billy Batson. The Beninese actor has been in a number of movies, including Gladiator and Blood Diamond. You might recognise him from the MCU as Korath the Pursuer and from the DC Extended Universe as the Fisherman King [12].
Adam Brody as Adult Freddie Freeman
Adam Brody [13] will star as adult Freddie, Billy's foster brother and best friend. If you grew up during the aughts, you might remember Brody as the controversial Seth Cohen [14] from The O.C. He currently stars as Nick Talman on the series StartUp.
Jack Dylan Grazer as Young Freddie Freeman
The It actor will play the younger version of Billy's friend Freddie. Besides appearing in It and It 2 as Eddie Kaspbrak, Jack Dylan Grazer recently portrayed young Nic Sheff in Beautiful Boy [15].
Ross Butler as Adult Eugene Choi
The Riverdale [16] actor will play the grown-up version of Eugene, Billy's foster brother who's an avid gamer and techie. Besides briefly appearing on Riverdale [17] as Reggie, Ross Butler [18] has also appeared on K.C. Undercover, 13 Reasons Why [19], and Teen Wolf.
Ian Chen as Young Eugene Choi
Butler's younger counterpart is none other than Ian Chen, who plays Evan Huang on Fresh Off the Boat.
Meagan Good as Adult Darla Dudley
Meagan Good will portray the grown-up version of Darla, Billy's outgoing foster sister. Good is set to play Annie in 2019's The Intruder, and you might know her from horrors such as Venom, Saw V, ad The Unborn.
Faithe Herman as Young Darla Dudley
Faithe Herman will play young Darla. The child actress is best known for her role as Annie Pearson [20] on NBC's This Is Us.
Michelle Borth as Adult Mary Bromfield
The Hawaii Five-0 actress will take on the adult version of Mary Bromfield, Billy's foster sister who takes care of him and his other foster siblings.
Grace Fulton as Young Mary Bromfield
Grace Fulton will play the teenage version of Billy's foster sister Mary. The 22-year-old actress recently appeared in Annabelle: Creation as Carol.
D.J. Cotrona as Adult Pedro Peña
D.J. Cotrona is set to star as Pedro, Billy's shy foster sibling. Cotrona is known for his role as Seth Gecko on From Dusk Till Dawn.
Jovan Armand as Young Pedro Peña
Jovan Armand will play Cotrona's younger counterpart. He has appeared in the series The Middle as Troy and Bella and the Bulldogs as Ricky Delarosa.
Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez
The Walking Dead [21] actor is set to play Billy's foster father. Besides starring as Jerry on The Walking Dead [22], Cooper Andrews is also known for his role as Yo-Yo Engberk on Halt and Catch Fire.
Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez
Marta Milans will portray Rosa, the foster mother of Billy's group home. The young Spanish actress plays Katia on El embarcadero.
