Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret Movie Cast

Your Favourite Judy Blume Book Is Becoming a Movie, and You'll Definitely Approve of the Cast

Judy Blume's classic coming-of-age novel Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is finally getting a big-screen adaptation, and the cast is already shaping up to be super impressive! A young, up-and-coming actress is set to play Margaret, a tween girl dealing with puberty milestones, family drama, and religion. Plus, the movie has brought on a few big-name stars to play the adults in the cast, including at least one bona-fide acting legend. The movie is set to begin production in the next couple of months, with a release date still unconfirmed, and we can assume we'll get more casting news as it gets closer. For now, take a look at who's been confirmed to be part of the cast so far.

Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret Simon

Fortson will star as Margaret Simon, a sixth-grader who is struggling with the milestones of puberty as well as her mixed-faith upbringing. You most likely recognise Fortson as the young Cassie Lang from the Ant-Man movies.

Rachel McAdams as Barbara Simon

McAdams is set to play Barbara Simon, formerly Barbara Hutchins, Margaret's mother, a woman from a Christian family that cut her off for the past decade for marrying a Jewish man. Last year, McAdams costarred in the musical comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga; she'll next be seen reprising her role as Dr. Christine Palmer in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Kathy Bates as Sylvia Simon

The Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner will be playing Sylvia Simon, Margaret's Jewish paternal grandmother who takes her to synagogue and supports her through her quest to figure out her beliefs. Most recently, Bates was seen in the 2019 drama Richard Jewell, and her next project is as different from Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret as it gets: she's returning to the American Horror Story universe for the upcoming tenth season.
