21 New and Returning Shows Netflix Is Unleashing Upon Us in April

April showers bring May flowers — as well as plenty of new Netflix content. This month, you can expect to see the premiere of Mindy Kaling's new series about a first-generation Indian American girl, as well as the return of Money Heist, The House of Flowers, The Last Kingdom, and plenty more. With thrillers, comedies, competition series, reality series, and cooking shows from France, Italy, South Korea, China, Israel, Spain, Japan, and — of course — here in the US, Netflix's TV offerings for April have something for everyone, and you can check out the gallery to read more about what April has to offer.

1. Nailed It!, Season 4

This Netflix cooking competition — where amateur bakers attempt to re-create elaborate cakes for cash prizes and often find themselves subject to hilarious baking fails — is back for a fourth instalment to make us feel better about all of our Pinterest disappointments.

2. Sunderland 'Til I Die, Season 2

The second season of this British docuseries continues the story of third tier English football team Sunderland, following their hopes of turning things around after two disappointing seasons in a row.

3. Money Heist, Season 4

Though this Spanish heist show originally debuted in late 2017 as a limited series, it's now coming back for a fourth season, continuing the story of eight thieves who have locked themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain — along with a group of hostages — as a criminal mastermind attempts to get the police to cooperate with his master plan.

4. Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020, Part 3

Japan's Real World-esque reality TV phenomenon will return for a seventh instalment, following six housemates living under one roof in Tokyo as they go to work, make dinner together, and generally act far more well-behaved than any Real World cast members ever have.

5. Brews Brothers, Season 1

Produced by brothers Greg and Jeff Schaffer, this comedy follows two estranged brothers, Wilhelm and Adam Rodman (played by Alan Aisenberg and Mike Castle) who are forced to run a brewery together, despite their very different techniques and personalities.

6. Outer Banks, Season 1

Starring Madelyn Cline (whom you might recognise from Boy Erased and Vice Principals) and several other up-and-coming young actors, this YA drama is set on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, following a close-knit group of teens as they attempt to find the father of their ringleader — who went missing while trying to salvage a sunken ship — and instead find a mysterious treasure map.

7. Fary: Hexagone, Season 2

French comedian Fary is back to give his hilarious take on everything from social media influencers to beatboxing to religion.

8. Fauda, Season 3

In the long-awaited third season of this Israeli action series, former Israeli soldier Doron Kavillio recruits a promising young boxer for the team as they pursue a Hamas leader who's high on Shin Bet's wanted list.

9. Cooked with Cannabis, Season 1

Premiering on 4/20, of course, this new cooking competition series challenges budding (LOL) chefs to make creations using THC infusions, CBD sauces, and — as the name promises — cannabis.

10. The Midnight Gospel, Season 1

Inspired by interviews from the Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast, this bizarre animated series follows a spacecaster on adventures throughout the galaxy in an attempt to uncover life's greatest mysteries.

11. Absurd Planet, Season 1

This funny science series offers an inside look into the lives of the planet's most intriguing animals, with narration provided by a cast of quirky animal creatures, as well as Mother Nature herself.

In this new reality competition series, six couples go head to head to see who can best survive in the rugged Alaskan wilderness, all with the hope of winning the deed to a remote Alaskan lodge.

This dark comedy — which revolves around a wealthy and dysfunctional Mexican family who own a flower shop — returns for a third season, continuing the wild antics of the de la Mora family.

This British dark comedy — which is created, produced, and directed by Ricky Gervais, who also stars in the series — returns for a second instalment, following Tony as he attempts to repair his friendships while still mourning the death of his wife.

15. The Last Kingdom, Season 4

The fourth instalment of this medieval drama series — which is an adaptation of Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories — continues the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg as he tries to recover his lost birthright.

16. Never Have I Ever, Season 1

Produced by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, this comedy series tells the story and struggles of a modern first-generation Indian-American teen, played by newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishna. Tennis legend John McEnroe is serving as narrator, as Ramakrishna's late father was a big fan of the tennis bad boy (as were Kaling's own parents).

In this cooking series, author and chef Nadiya Hussain (who won BBC's The Great British Bake Off back in 2015) offers quick and easy meal tutorials perfect for busy families.
