The Nun seemed to have everything working in its favour: a solid hook into The Conjuring universe, a terrifying villain, and a lead in American Horror Story alum Taissa Farmiga. But rather than trying to instill genuine fear in its audience, the film relies on cheap jump scares sprinkled into its nonsensical narrative.
