Actors Asante Blackk and Justin Cunningham play Kevin Richardson as a 14-year-old and an adult, respectively. Richardson was an aspiring trumpet player before his arrest, and ended up serving five years in prison. When They See Us is Blackk's first major role, while Cunningham is known for his role as Dr. Kenneth Warner on Succession.
