While her mother Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) has had a breakthrough with her therapist, Devi still isn't ready to make nice with her mother and move to India. Nalini comes to make peace and tell her about the decision to spread Mohan's ashes, and Devi does not take it well. As she flashes back through all the good and bad times, it feels as if she is truly trying to grieve. Rather than realise what her mother is saying is right and that she's here for a good reason, Devi chooses to pick another fight which sets her up for a whirlwind of a finale to the first season.
