The catalyst for Dani and Rebecca's hirings at Bly Manor are the deaths of the Wingrave parents. After Dominic discovers that Charlotte and his brother Henry are having an affair, he decides that in order to save their marriage, they should relive their honeymoon. Dominic and Charlotte then travel to India where they die in a terrible accident. We never learn the exact nature of this accident but do see that Henry is the one that learns of the news and has to tell the children.
