Right now, the most mysterious suspect on the show is the "tie-dye guy," who has yet to be identified. As far as true crime stories go, that alone makes him one of the biggest suspects. After all, he was spotted going up the staircase to the roof the night of Tim's murder. Although, the flash-forward in the first episode does show Mabel kneeling over a presumably dead person wearing a tie-dye hoodie. If he's Tim's killer, who has it out for him?
