Following the release of "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" in April 2021, the fandom thought "1989 (Taylor's Version)" would be next in line to be remastered, but Swift threw everyone for a loop when she dropped "Red (Taylor's Version)" instead. Though she may be holding off on re-releasing "1989" because of the ongoing copyright trial over "Shake It Off," some fans are more convinced than ever that "1989 (Taylor's Version)" will go out into the world next. After all, Swift has already released its lead single "Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)." Could this summer be the perfect time for us to dust off our polaroid cameras and fully reimmerse in "1989" all over again? These theories make us think so.
1. "The Joker And The Queen" Music Video Easter Eggs
Ed Sheeran and Swift's recent collaboration "The Joker And The Queen" is accompanied by a nostalgia-inducing music video featuring the now-grown-up kids from 2012's "Everything Has Changed" music video. In one scene, the male lead is at band practice, and when the camera zooms out, the students seem to be standing in the same formation as in the "Shake It Off" music video.
2. "All Too Well: The Short Film" Clues
Along with "Red"'s November 2021 re-release, the highly-anticipated 10-minute version of "All Too Well" came with a beautiful short film. The car used in the video is from the year 1989, and even Swift confirmed this Easter egg when she replied to the TikTok herself. In the video, Swift also modelled the book her character wrote in the short film after Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Interestingly enough, Swift has a song called"Wonderland" on the deluxe version of "1989."
3. "I Bet You Think About Me" Music Video Hints
One fan noted that the cakes in Swift's "I Bet You Think About Me" and "Blank Space" music videos were both red velvet. It's also worth noting that much like the latter's video, where Swift brutally stabs the cake with a knife, "I Bet You Think About Me" visuals show Swift's character recklessly clawing the cake with her fingers. Is it just a coincidence, to a clue "1989"'s re-release is around the corner? Only Taylor knows!
