Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Style

Have Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Been Dressing Alike? Yes, Yes, the Answer's Yes!

After spotting style similarities between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton numerous times — their navy pumps are basically indistinguishable, and they coordinated in shades of blue for an event — we did a little digging. While Meghan Markle has been called out for breaking royal protocol (she wears top handle bags instead of clutches and has consistently chosen to bare her legs in public), Kate and Meghan maintain a lot of the same staples.

They've worn some of the same labels and seem to select similar silhouettes for both daytime outings and fancy occasions. In fact, since Meghan has announced her engagement to Prince Harry, she seems to have picked up on a total of 11 fashion cues from the duchess, all of which we outline ahead.

1. A White Coat in a Sophisticated Cut

Meghan opted for a sleek and sophisticated Amanda Wakeley coat to attend the Commonwealth Day service in March 2018, which mirrored the fit of Kate's Alexander McQueen coat, which she wore for a ceremony in Belgium in July 2017, along with Princess Charlotte's christening. Both ladies also chose similar style hats, Meghan's a Stephen Jones beret and Kate's taking on the fascinator silhouette.

2. A Crisp Coat With Contrast Lining

Meghan's navy J. Crew coat, which she wore on International Women's Day in 2018, boasted a similar lining to the Malene Birger design Kate owns.

3. A Navy Trench

At the launch of the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018, Meghan wore this sleeveless Jason Wu trench dress, and Kate owns a long-sleeved version by Ted Baker.

4. A Plaid Statement Piece

Meghan's tartan Burberry coat, which she debuted in Edinburgh with Prince Harry in 2018, looks remarkably similar to the checked Alexander McQueen design Kate's worn many times.

5. A Pantsuit and White, Ruffly Blouse

Who says royals can't wear pantsuits? Meghan's black Alexander McQueen coordinates created buzz when she wore them with a pair of pumps and a romantic white blouse for the 2018 Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony in London, but Kate owns similar separates that she tends to pair with wedges instead.

6. A Cinched Coat and Turtleneck

While Kate doesn't tend to wear black in public, unless it's for a somber event or Remembrance Day, Meghan glowed in this Stella McCartney design, which was cinched at the waist with a sash on a visit to Cardiff, Wales. Kate has worn this belted Max Mara coat on numerous occasions, and she similarly layers it over a turtleneck.

7. A Gray Coat to Bundle Up In

Meghan's gray Smythe coat, which she coordinated with a scarf and Burberry trousers for a visit to the underground music station Reprezent 107.3 FM, reminded us of Kate's Reiss piece, which she also wore with her hair swept back, to show off the pretty little details.

8. Neutral-Toned Outerwear and Accessories

Perhaps making for one of their most similar looks yet, Meghan seemed to take a tip from Kate on Christmas Day in 2017, styling a neutral Sentaler wrap coat with a Chloé purse and brown fascinator. Back in 2014, Kate wore a Moloh coat with accessories that struck the same tone.

9. A Navy Double-Breasted Coat

Meghan's double-breasted navy blue Mackage coat was one of the first items she debuted in public alongside Prince Harry, while on a visit to the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair in Nottingham. Kate owns this classic Hobbs piece that is remarkably similar in silhouette.

10. Embellished Eveningwear

Meghan's stunning Ralph & Russo engagement dress featured swirling embellishments and a dramatic skirt. Kate, who is a fan of Jenny Packham's evening wear, wore a lovely piece from the fashion house with a similar adornment on the royal tour to New Zealand in 2014.

11. A White Coat Dress

Meghan's white trench coat from Canadian label Line caught every gal's attention when she announced her engagement in 2017. Kate's ivory Catherine Walker number, which fits her like a glove, boasts the same sophisticated vibes.
