Becoming a member of the royal family comes with some incredible perks, something Meghan Markle definitely learned this year. From an incredible new home to the best seats at all the UK's biggest events, Meghan's definitely living the high life. All that, and she also access to some of the most beautiful jewels on earth.

Not only does Meghan get to borrow pieces from the queen's extensive jewellery collection, she's also been able to dig into Princess Diana's archive. But while she's chosen heirloom jewels on many occasions, she's also building up quite the collection of her own. Keep reading to see all her most treasured pieces, as we look back at all of Meghan's most memorable jewellery moments of the year.

Meghan's Engagement Ring

Naturally, the piece of jewellery that got most people talking in 2018 was Meghan's engagement ring, which we got plenty of glimpses at early in the year as Meghan and Harry began a series of royal engagements as a couple.

Meghan's ring was designed by Prince Harry and made by Cleave and Company. The centre stone is a diamond from Botswana (where the couple had a romantic holiday in the early stages of their relationship), while the two smaller stones are diamonds from Harry's personal collection, given to him by Princess Diana.

Meghan's Engagement Ring

The ring is truly one of a kind, not just because of the sentimental story behind the stones, but because the jewellers who made it confirmed there will be no copies or replicas made. Stephen Connelly, director of Cleave and Company, told the Associated Press, "We're not going to be making replicas of it. If you want a ring, then we'll design you a different one."

Meghan's Wedding Band

After her wedding in May, Meghan added another ring to her left hand, her simple gold wedding band. Also by Cleave and Company, the ring was fashioned from a piece of Welsh gold, which was gifted by the Queen prior to the couple's big day.

The Queen Mary Bandeau Tiara

Of all of Meghan's 2018 moments, obviously her wedding is the most memorable, and we're still not over her choice of tiara. The Queen Mary Bandeau Tiara was made specifically to house the brooch at its centre, which has 10 brilliant diamonds that date back to 1893. The brooch was originally gifted to then-Princess Mary in 1893 by the County of Lincoln on her marriage to Prince George, Duke of York. She had the tiara made in 1932 and bequeathed to Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The Queen then loaned it to Meghan for her wedding day.

Meghan's Love Ring

Though her engagement ring and wedding band now take pride of place on Meghan's left hand, on her right, she often experiments with other delicate pieces. During a visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen, one of the charity projects she has been heavily involved in since becoming Duchess of Sussex, Meghan wore a Solange Azagury-Partridge ring that spelled out the word "Love."

Meghan's Stacked Rings

On a trip to Scotland in February, Meghan sported no less than five rings on one hand, with a value of over £5,000. She began with stackable styles from Maison Birks, a Canadian fine jewellery brand. She teamed the Diamond Snowflake Ring and the Splash Ring with two Catbird NYC Threadbare Rings and the Missoma Interstellar Ring.

Princess Diana's Aquamarine Ring

When Meghan and Harry waved from the car on her way to their wedding reception, all eyes were on the giant aquamarine ring that Meghan had added to her outfit. The Asprey gem came from Princess Diana's collection, and it made the perfect "something blue" for the bride. She wore the ring again during the royal tour of Australia.

Meghan's Kismet by Milka Ring

When she visited Brinsworth House in December, Meghan wore the Kismet by Milka Hamsa Ring. Fans were quick to note the significance of the ring, which features a talisman to ward off the evil eye, bringing its wearer protection from misfortune. Some people suggested Meghan had chosen this ring to make a subtle statement about the negative press that she was the subject of towards the end of the year.

Meghan's Pounamu Necklace

During the royal tour of New Zealand, Meghan was gifted this Pounamu (greenstone) necklace by the New Zealand governor General Patsy Reddy. The Maori design pendant is by designer Kiri Nathan, who explains on her website that "Pounamu is traditionally handed down as a valued heirloom or given as a gift to affirm relationships, peace, love and safe journeys/life."

Meghan's Pasta Necklace

Meghan received another necklace as a gift when visiting Melbourne. The duchess was spotted wearing a necklace of gold beads after meeting members of the public in the Australian city. If you look closely, you'll notice the necklace is actually made from pieces of painted pasta. It was given to Meghan by a young fan called Gavin, who later set up a website to sell more of the necklaces to raise money for charity, inspired by Meghan's own philanthropy.

When she was spotted making her way to Prince Charles's 70th Birthday celebrations, Meghan was wearing a dramatic pair of drop earrings that we first saw at a state dinner in Fiji.

These stunning diamonds are apparently "borrowed," though it's not been confirmed where from. Given that she's worn them to two important royal engagements, it's possible they've been lent to Meghan by another member of the royal family.

Harry has clearly opened up his mother's jewellery box to his new wife, as along with her aquamarine ring, Meghan's also taken a shine to Princess Diana's butterfly earrings.

Meghan's modern style means she's rarely seen in pearls, but she does make an exception in certain company. Pearls are said to be a favourite of Queen Elizabeth II, and the Queen actually gifted these delicate studs to Meghan. It's no surprise the duchess chose to wear them when she was invited to visit Chester in the company of the Queen.

Meghan made a statement in Fiji when she wore a pair of Pippa Small's hammered leaf earrings. The 24kt Gold Peepal Leaf Earrings are described as "symbols of fertility . . . associated with the mother goddess," making them a fitting choice following Meghan's pregnancy announcement.

On a casual appearance in London in April, Meghan sported a number of delicate gold bracelets, including one by affordable California-based label Tai Jewellery.

For her first appearance after marrying Prince Harry, Meghan chose very classic jewellery, adding a simple diamond tennis bracelet to her wrist, to go with her engagement ring and wedding band. It's thought that this bracelet may be from Cartier, given to Meghan as a gift from Prince Harry.

Meghan returned to a jewellery favourite, Missoma, when she was looking for accessories for her first trip to Sussex since becoming Duchess of Sussex, in October. She wore the brand's Rainbow Moonstone Beaded Bracelet and Double Chain Bracelet as well as the Open Heart Signet Ring and her Catbird NYC Threadbare Rings.

Meghan's Chunky Stacked Cuffs

When she made a surprise appearance at the Fashion Awards in November, Meghan teamed her Givenchy gown with gold cuffs and bangles designed by Pippa Small. She wore the Wajiha Cuff, the Omeen Bangle, and the Oshna Bangle.
