The tiara was lent to Meghan by Queen Elizabeth II. It was originally made for the queen's grandmother, Queen Mary, in 1932, and was bequeathed to the queen in 1953. The brooch in the centre dates back to the 1890s (it was one of Mary's wedding gifts) and the tiara was designed specifically to house it.
