Ester Ledecka Borrowed Mikaela Shiffrin's Skis Wins Gold

Ester Ledecka Won Gold in the Super-G — and She Was Wearing Mikaela Shiffrin's Skis!

That's Ester Ledecka below, looking around in shock after realizing what had just happened. A Czech snowboarder who only began competing in the women's Super-G skiing competition two years ago, took home gold! And oh, she was borrowing Mikaela Shiffrin's skis, who was unable to compete because of her compressed schedule.

Esther beat Lindzey Vonn, and then in utter shock and amazement to all of us (herself included!), finished in 1:21.12, beating Austria's Anna Veith by 0.01 seconds!

Ledecka thought it was some kind of mistake since she has never finished higher than 29th in the event. So yeah, this definitely makes the list of our top favorite 2018 Olympic moments! She even attended the press conference wearing her goggles because she never in a million years thought she'd win, and wasn't wearing any makeup!

Esther has two coaches — one for skiing and one for snowboarding. She's supposed to strap her snowboard back on to compete in the parallel giant slalom next week, but this win may change her plans. She could enter in Wednesday's Alpine downhill. Whatever she does, we're not going to miss watching it!

Neuvěřitelné. Bláznivé. A krásné. Děkuju rodině, týmu i fanouškům. Je to medaile všech, kteří mi drželi pěsti. Ale teď už se těším na zítřejší trénink :) // Incredible. Crazy. And beautiful. I want to thank my family, my team and my fans. This medal belongs to everyone who cheered for me. But now I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's practice :) #Pyeongchang2018
