Floor Routines NCAA Gymnastics Championships 2019

ICYMI, Here Are Some of the Most Entertaining Floor Routines From the NCAA Gymnastics Championships

The confetti has settled and the teams have headed home. At the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on April 19 and 20, Oklahoma came out on top as national champs followed by LSU and UCLA. In its first NCAA final showing in school history, Denver finished fourth. Highlights include Katelyn Ohashi's farewell performance as a Bruin, Kyla Ross's floor and vault cochampion wins, and LSU junior Maggie Nichols's all-around victory for the second year in a row.

It was a weekend full of emotion. For instance, it marked the last time legendary UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field, known as "Miss Val," led her team to an NCAA Championships (she's retiring). The sport said goodbye to great seniors, too. Other than UCLA's Katelyn, there's 2012 Olympic alternate Sarah Finnegan, four-time national team member Lexie Priessman, and Mary Lou Retton's daughter McKenna Kelley, all from LSU.

But, it was also a weekend full of what these gymnasts do best: showmanship, skill, and so much fun. Ahead, check out some of the coolest floor routines from the championships in no particular order (because they're all awesome).

After the individual competition on the first night of these championships, University of Florida senior Alicia Boren was crowned floor cochampion with a score of 9.95 alongside UCLA's Kyla Ross, Denver's Lynnzee Brown, and Oklahoma's Brenna Dowell — yes, four competitors tied for first place. Alicia's routine is set to music like Fifth Harmony's "Worth It," and her dance moves are no joke (she literally does the "nae nae")!

UCLA junior Kyla received floor and vault cochampion titles on April 19, and tied for second in the all-around. Watch her near-perfect vault and floor performances! (We can't wait to see what she does during her senior year.)

Though Alabama didn't make it as a team, Abby still qualified to compete as an individual on floor. This routine, set to an all-strings rendition of "Stairway to Heaven," is as elegant as elegant gets. The senior's final score? A 9.9125.

At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Mary Lou Retton became the first female US gymnast to win a gold medal in the all-around. Her daughter McKenna just finished her senior-year season with LSU. This routine from the NCAA Gymnastics Championships' first semifinal earned her a 9.925.

This marked Katelyn's last performance as a UCLA Bruin. She's scored six perfect 10s this season, and though she didn't get one at the NCAA Championships, she still got a 9.95 (pretty darn perfect). Her viral moves have brought us so much joy, and we can't wait to see what life after college looks like for this superstar.

Lexie's 9.875 floor routine for LSU was set to fun electronic music. Watch her nail every single tumbling pass (with a torn bicep, no less). Plus, check out the senior's bar routine at the end that also earned her a 9.875.

Natalie scored a 9.90 with this routine on night one of the competition, and you'll see why. Her toe point is flawless. Her tumbling, stuck every time (her first pass, not shown here, was a double pike). She's only a freshman at the University of Michigan and ended up winning the beam title!
