Y7 Studio and Girlfriend Collective Teamed Up to Create Clothes For Women in "Many Shapes and Sizes"

When Sarah Larson Levey started Y7 Studio in mid-2013, a chain of Vinyasa-style facilities with dark lighting and a "give-no-f*cks," love yourself attitude, she wanted it to be about inclusivity. That aspect was, for her, missing when she started yoga. "I don't care where you're coming from, I want you to walk in that space, and I want you to have your own experience," she told POPSUGAR. The yoga flows are all conducted in candlelit, heated rooms with no mirrors, and the classes are paced to the beat of music (yes, even Cardi B).

The studios are meant for everyone, even if you haven't tried yoga before, Sarah explained. That's why, for Y7's first-ever collection, she chose to work with Girlfriend Collective, a women's activewear brand true to inclusivity both in its sizing and message — its website states front and centre, "We believe health and wellness come in many shapes and sizes, and that representation matters."

Like the stripped-down atmosphere in Y7 Studio, Girlfriend Collective's clothes are simple and feature solid colours, but still stand out. Plus, everything is made from recycled water bottles, and the fabric is buttery soft. "They have such a broad range of sizing, and I think that's so important as fitness and boutique fitness is getting more and more ingrained into everyone's daily life," Sarah said. "Working out is not just for the athletic person anymore."

The line features four classic pieces: two sports bras, biker shorts, and compressive leggings, all in extra small to 2XL. Prices range from $45 to $75. Ahead, check out the Y7 x GFC collection. Find it online and at all Y7 Studio locations in NYC. The message is simple, Sarah said: "It's, 'You have a body. You should move it. And there should be clothes to fit that.'"
