Simone Manuel won a groundbreaking gold medal in 2016 and became a voice for Black representation and excellence in swimming. Heading into Tokyo, she'll look to defend her golds in the 100m free and the 4x100 medley, plus improve on silvers in the 50m free and 4x100m free. Having grabbed four golds at the 2019 World Championships, Manuel is in a great position to do so, and she has said upfront that she's looking to take home multiple medals in 2021. She's currently training in California with Katie Ledecky.
