Step 10

Once the Instant Pot beeps to indicate the cooking time is over, there are two ways to depressurize it. The first method is natural release, which can take 10 minutes or more. Recipes that have more liquid will naturally take longer to depressurize, so just be patient. The other method is quick release, which requires you to switch the knob down to the venting setting. Steam will then shoot out from the release knob.

Be wary that if you choose to use the quick release method with more starchy recipes, it is very likely that some food will bubble out, too.
