Scott Mallwitz, executive creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering explained that Batuu is meant to be a "place of discovery, and a living planet of traders, smugglers, and adventurers." So from dining to attractions, every detail of Galaxy's Edge is meant to be as authentic as possible to the Star Wars world you see on screen.
