Americans use more than 500 million single-use straws each day. Koffie Straws ($13) are a great alternative because they are silicone and can go in hot drinks and in the dishwasher without damage. Silicone is also better for my kids, since biting into stainless steel or glass straws can hurt their teeth if they bite down on them.
