The Ordinary People Change the World (£37) series is made up of eight short, illustrated biographies designed to introduce real-life heroes to a new generation of readers. The series was born out of a shopping venture Brad Meltzer took with his daughter. "All I could find were clothes with princesses on them. I was tired of my own kids looking at reality TV show stars and thinking that's a hero. . . . I said, 'I have so many better heroes in history that I can give them.'"
