Sesame Street and CNN teamed up on Saturday, June 6 for a town hall about racism with educational opportunities for kids and parents alike. The "Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism. A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall For Kids and Families" special was hosted by journalists Van Jones and Erica Hill, along with Sesame Street characters, and experts from across the nation.
During the town hall, Elmo and his dad had a conversation about the power of protests, Abby Caddaby talked about witnessing bullying, and the experts answered previously-submitted questions from kids over video. "Do you think George Floyd's death can change the way that people behave when they encounter black men like my dad?" asked 9-year-old Paityn. Nine-year-old Saniya wondered, "What is a good way to deal with racism when I encounter it?"
These tough and honest questions are ones we can all learn from. Keep reading to catch-up on the clips you might've missed, and consider using them to continue having a dialogue with your own family.
