While you may want to be disconnected and off the grid while you camp, it's a good idea to have your phone nearby in case of emergencies. If your van is equipped for a phone charger, charge your mobile while you're driving so it always has some juice. Otherwise, seek out charging stations or a gas station every now and then so you're not stuck in the middle of nowhere without your phone if something goes wrong.
