Fashion journalist Hilary Alexander picked up her OBE at Buckingham Palace today, adding her name to a long list of industry luminaries who've received a royal honour. This year alone, Sarah Curran, founder of My-Wardrobe.com, has received an MBE and Mario Testino made headlines for being made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
With the British fashion industry contributing millions of pounds to the country's economy, it's no surprise that our biggest names have been recognised for their contributions to our country. From Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton to Fashion East's Lulu Kennedy, take a look at all the big names honoured by the Queen in our gallery.

Miranda Kerr made her triumphant return to the Fashion Week runway when she walked at the Stella McCartney Spring 2014 show in Paris today. She was joined by fellow supermodel Cara Delevingne on the catwalk, and the two met up backstage to ham it up for photographers. Miranda joked about Cara photobombing her at the show, writing on Instagram that she was "having fun backstage with Cara," adding, "Love you!" Miranda has had a busy few days in the City of Light after arriving for the week of fashion shows and events last weekend. The model is still working as we speak, as she shared a topless photo of herself from a photo shoot with iD magazine following the Stella presentation.
It's been a while since Miranda has worked the runway during Fashion Week. However, she has stomped her way in fashion events for the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show and showcases for David Jones, a department store in her native Australia.
The first glimpse we got of Stella McCartney Spring 2014 was a cryptic Instagram of a bespectacled Miranda Kerr. That shot (as well as a googly eyed invitation) alluded to two of the buzziest elements of the show, one being Kerr's rare runway appearance and the other those aforementioned shades.
As often is the case, McCartney's sleek accessories — ranging from sunglasses to minimalist sandals and slouchy bags — were the perfect complement to the label's modern designs. Bringing her faux reptile technique to the collection and pairing her relaxed shapes with feminine contoured lace and rich navy and burgundy, McCartney's show was truly a sight to see (with or without a pair of those googly eyes).
London Fashion Week is well under way, and plenty of stars are stepping out for the fun overseas. Sienna Miller got dressed up to attend the Global Fund dinner, while Harry Styles took a front-row seat at the Fashion East show in the Topshop space. Cara Delevingne was back on the catwalk for the Peter Pilotto show, and Stella McCartney took care of her designer duties as she presented her Adidas for Stella McCartney line. And even more famous faces, like Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, and Victoria Beckham, have hit up the fashionable festivities — check out all the stars getting in on the fun so far!
