"Thank U, Next" isn't just a song with a nostalgic music video (technically it's also the name of Ariana's upcoming fifth album, but I digress), it's a phenomenon. When the song was first released in November — 30 minutes before ex Pete Davidson was set to appear on Saturday Night Live — everyone assumed it would be a diss track. Instead, the song was a mature break-up anthem all about self-love and moving on. And then the music video came along.
To be factual, before the music video dropped there were the teasers on her Instagram page and an actual trailer. Yes that's right, Ariana Grande made a trailer for her music video and we all watched it happily. Finally, the music video dropped on Nov. 30, and it was all that promised and more. It has everything: classic girl-power films, hidden Easter eggs up the wazoo, cameos from everyone and their mothers, behind-the-scenes videos that are unbelievably adorable, and was so amazing it broke Youtube comments. Ariana did that.
