The actress and singer was born in Lagos, Nigeria to parents from rivaling tribes Yoruba and Igbo. She later moved to Los Angeles at age 10 to pursue her acting career. During an appearance on The Real in 2017, she shared that when she was younger she tried hard to assimilate. As she's embraced herself, Pepi told The Real hosts, "I've never not been proud of myself or my culture, but now it's like, I'm ready to hold that flag."
