During an interview with Variety, Fike claimed that his character on Euphoria is very reminiscent of how he used to act as a teen. "I don't have to do much acting," Fike told Variety. "He's exactly like me. It's shit I would say and shit I would do." However, a major difference between he and Elliot is that Fike is now sober. He states that his sobriety has put him in a better headspace that allows for more creativity. "I'm in overdrive," he said. "I feel like I can work forever and do anything."
