The Netflix teen drama On My Block centres on a quartet of teenage friends in an inner-city Los Angeles neighbourhood, navigating typical teen problems like love and school alongside more dangerous concerns. While there are some supporting characters who are older, for the most part, the series focuses on its young teen ensemble, who are just in high school.
It's become something of a popular practice for TV shows to cast much older actors to play teenage characters, resulting in characters who don't exactly look the way we remember looking as teens.
