What Marvel Movies Come After Avengers: Endgame?

We're Far From the Endgame, Guys — Here Are All the Films Coming Up in Marvel's Phase 4

The tragic conclusion to Avengers: Endgame may have left an arc-reactor-sized hole in your chest (is it still too soon for those jokes?), but there's always a silver lining. Even though it feels like our heroes' journey ended with the defeat of Thanos, the truth is that there are still plenty more movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe down the line! And of course, there will also be several Marvel characters with their own shows on Disney's new streaming site, Disney+. But for the film buffs who are looking for some action on the big screen, we got you covered.

The best part of the news is that we won't have to wait long for the next MCU instalment — Spider-Man: Far From Home will conclude Phase Three and give us our first look at the world post-Thanos on July 5. It's just that after Far From Home, things are a little less . . . definitive. Disney unveiled the release dates for all the films of Phase Four, but they don't have any titles! Here's the official release-date list:

  • May 1, 2020
  • November 6, 2020
  • February 12, 2021
  • May 7, 2021
  • November 5, 2021
  • February 18, 2022
  • May 6, 2022
  • July 29, 2022

While it gives us something to look forward to, it doesn't give us a lot of information to work with. Luckily, we do know several Marvel films already in the pipeline, so we can take a guess at what's coming up when. Check out the upcoming titles ahead and never fear — the Marvel adventures are far from over!

Spider-Man: Far From Home

The follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to premiere on July 5. As the final entry of Marvel's Phase 3, the film opens up right after the events of Endgame and will show how the world is coping with half of their population returning after five years and losing a valued defender of Earth, Tony Stark. Hopefully it'll also give us a sneak peek into where the MCU is going now.

Black Widow

The stand-alone film about the Avengers' Black Widow doesn't have a premiere date yet, but we do know that the story is reportedly taking place before the first Avengers movie, so we might get to see a bit of the spy-turned-heroine's origin story. Considering that Black Widow is likely the next movie to enter production, we think it's a fair guess that this will be the Marvel film to drop on May 1, 2020.

Black Panther 2

While it hasn't been officially confirmed, a sequel to 2018's Black Panther is already a given. The movie was a record-breaking smash hit and universally loved, plus we all want to go back to Wakanda! It's been rumoured that Ryan Coogler has signed up to direct the follow-up, and we cannot wait to see what he comes up with for the sequel. Since any work on the film has been very hush-hush, we'll put this one around the Feb. 12, 2021 date, which would make its release around three years after the first.

The Eternals

Another cosmic superhero team is joining the Marvel roaster! Based on Jack Kirby's comics, The Eternals focuses on a cosmic group called the Celestials, which creates two super-powered beings called the Eternals and the Deviants. The first star to be attached to the project was Angelina Jolie, followed quickly by Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Madden. Chloé Zhao has been tapped to direct, though the film's story has been on the very deep hush-hush.

Captain Marvel 2

There have been no official plans for a sequel to 2018's Captain Marvel, but since the film was such a success, we have a feeling a follow-up is in the works. Since Carol Danvers and crew are still pretty new to the MCU, we'd bet that if her sequel drops during Phase Four, it would be one of the last films released.

Doctor Strange 2

Another sequel is in the works, and this one has been quietly coming together behind the scenes. Doctor Strange 2 is most likely nearing production already, which means it'll probably be one of the earlier drops on the list.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The journey to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been a long and dark one, but we're finally back at it again. While the project was previously on hold after the firing of director James Gunn, his recent rehiring has put the project back on track! The film has been pushed back until after Gunn finishes his work on the Suicide Squad sequel, but we already have some details on the story.
