Based on the book series of the same name, the show follows three orphans who are taken in by their evil distant relative, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), after their parents die a mysterious and tragic death. Through different schemes and attempts to outsmart Count Olaf, the children hope to eventually find the pieces they need to put together the mystery of how their parents REALLY died.
