French film My Golden Days is an engageing film that focuses on middle-aged anthropologist Paul Dédalus as he looks back on his painful childhood. It's a prequel in certain ways to director Arnaud Desplechin's other films, but this one focuses on boyhood, first love, and heartbreak.
