Twilight wasn't the first time Reed had worked with director Catherine Hardwicke: in 2003, she starred in Hardwicke's drama Thirteen when she was only 15. Since Twilight wrapped, Reed has been more low-profile, starring in some smaller-budget films such as Empire State and About Scout and doing charity work for animal welfare. Her personal life has been a little more visible: after divorcing her first husband in 2014, she began dating The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder. The couple married in 2015 and welcomed their daughter in 2017.
