Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia

Aunt Lydia's fate is hanging in the balance at the end of season two, because Emily has literally stabbed her in the back and thrown her down a flight of stairs. Sadly, this isn't the end of the villainous character: showrunner Bruce Miller laid it out pretty bluntly. "Aunt Lydia doesn't die. I don't think Aunt Lydia can die. I don't think there are forces in the world strong enough to kill Aunt Lydia." And in the aftermath of this experience? "She's transformed by this event," he said. "It makes her double down that she feels like she just wasn't strong enough in her discipline. So she, I think, has decided it's time to get tough." Woof. As if she wasn't already tough enough.
