By the time episode seven rolls around, Rue has an inkling that something is off about Jules, and it has to do with Nate (Jacob Elordi). That's when Rue and Lexi assume the roles of Detective Bennett and Detective Howard as Rue connects the dots and details her theory about how Jules and Nate are linked.
