Based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name, the film follows a young girl living in 1960s Baltimore with high hopes of making it big as a dancer. After scoring a dream spot on The Corny Collins Show, she becomes an overnight sensation for her fun personality and optimistic attitude.
