Emily (Lily Collins) finds herself relocating from Chicago to Paris to take on a fashion marketing job that her boss was originally supposed to take but couldn't at the last minute. Upon arrival, she's written off at the agency for her American-ness, but she powers through, showing her new coworkers her social media savvy and making power moves in the industry (much to their chagrin). She also breaks up with her boyfriend, who's back in Chicago, because he can't handle a long-distance relationship, and she then meets her handsome neighbour Gabriel. The two click but mostly stay friends. In the end, Emily mostly wins over her coworkers and Gabriel — despite Gabriel's complicated relationship with Camille that kinda sorta ends but then stays up in the air. She and Gabriel sleep together in the final episode of season one, but viewers aren't sure what will come next for them.
