At the end of season one, Gossip Girl left audiences with a lot of burning questions about the future of the characters. Executive producer and showrunner Josuha Safran (who also wrote and produced the original series) spoke with Newsweek on what we can expect of the characters in the upcoming season, saying, "We're going to go into even deeper places than it has gone before."
Though Safran is tight-lipped about specific details, we can expect to see a continuation of where season one left off with even more emotional depth and complexity. Aki, Audrey, and Max are now officially a throuple, which probably won't go quite as smoothly as they initially think based on their history. Meanwhile, Julien will likely continue to deal with the sexual assault allegations against her father as she tries to bring down Gossip Girl. The fallout of all this, along with the show's other plotlines, will make for an enthralling second season.
