"The Blackening," which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, follows a group of friends who find themselves being stalked by a killer during a weekend in a remote cabin. The film lampoons horror movie tropes, particularly the horribly racist trope of the Black character being the one to die first, and knits horror, meta-narratives, social commentary, and comedy together in a way that's reminiscent of a Peele film — though this one definitely leans a lot harder towards the comedic side of the spectrum than most of his work.
