"Heartstopper" is based on Oseman's comics of the same name — though not without changes — so we do know a little bit of where the show is headed next. Oseman said the new season is based on volume three of the comics series. "So we had a good foundation," she told Netflix's Tudum in an article published on 24 April, 2023. "But there's not enough in the book to take a whole season of TV, so there had to be a lot of creation of new stuff." In the third volume, the group go on a school trip to Paris.
Connor says in "Heartstopper" season two's date announcement video that the new instalment is "just a different vibe to season one."
As for the show's plot, per Netflix's official synopsis, there's the romance between Nick and Charlie, who are starting to face the world together as a couple. There's also the relationship between Tara and Darcy, who've encountered their own unique obstacles at an all-girls school. Plus there's the slow burn between Elle and Tao, best friends who might just be something more — and all of this is happening while the group travels to Paris, preps for exams, plans their prom, and looks to their future. Fans will have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
