"Succession" Wedding No. 3: Connor Roy and Willa Ferreyra (Season 4, Episode 3)

By season four's second episode, Connor and Willa's wedding has already got off to a rocky start. During the rehearsal dinner, Willa proclaims, "I can't do this," and storms off, leading to a particularly memorable karaoke session for the Roys. By the end of the episode, though, Willa seems to have come around.

The chaos continues at the start of the next episode, titled "Connor's Wedding," when Connor has a minor freakout after discovering his wedding cake is a sponge cake — which, Kendall explains, is the same kind of cake Connor lived on for a week as a child after his mother was committed to a mental asylum. Meanwhile, Logan decides not to show up to the ceremony and has Roman fire Gerri before the festivities even begin.

But everything changes when Tom calls Kendall and Roman and says their dad collapsed in the bathroom while on a private jet to Sweden. Upon learning that an aeroplane crew member is doing chest compressions on their father's unresponsive body, Roman and Kendall choke out a few last words over the phone. Eventually, Kendall goes to find Shiv, who also struggles to say goodbye. As it becomes clear that their dad is dead, the siblings finally tell Connor, who immediately blurts out, "He never even liked me."

From there, Kendall, Shiv, and Roman frantically try to figure out their next move while coming to terms with their shocking loss. Meanwhile, Connor and Willa consider canceling the wedding but eventually decide to go through with it and hold a pared-down ceremony attended by only a few people as Connor's siblings fly off to meet the jet bringing their dad's body back to New York. It's an unforgettable sequence of events that features "Succession"'s signature blend of ruthless reality checks, familial tension, and intimate, personal agonies — all against the backdrop of an absurdly extravagant wedding.
