“I wanted a distinct waistline, and I planned for the embroidery to be done only on the bodice,” she said to Vogue. “The process was crazy because we fitted a muslin version of the dress and then had to send the actual off-white silk faille bodice pieces to India where they were hand embroidered and then returned to us for assembly.”
