These Are the New Nike Running Shoes (That Can Prevent Injury) I'm Currently Obsessing Over

By now, it's pretty evident that I'm obsessed with workout gear, specifically running shoes, and rightfully so. Being that I spend a lot of my time in the gym training myself and clients and running around New York City, I've got to be in comfortable gear from head to toe. Cue the Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit Running Shoe ($160).

I'm a Nike girl, and I've been running in Nike shoes since I was in elementary school. I'm in a long-term relationship with the Nike Pegasus, but the React Infinity Run is quickly ascending to the top of my favourites list. Why? Because it's lightweight (a nonnegotiable for me) and supportive, and the colorway is a great combination of simple yet bold.

Aesthetic aside, this running shoe was designed to help people — no matter where you're at on your running journey — prevent getting injured. "We designed the Nike React Infinity Run to help reduce the risk of running-related injuries," Nike said. In an independent, 12-week half-marathon training study carried out by the British Columbia Sports Medicine Research Foundation, researchers found that this model "showed a 52-percent lower injury rate compared to the Nike Structure 22." Further, the study found that out of 226 participants, 30.3 percent of people who ran in the Nike Structure 22 got injuries, with only 14.5 percent of those who ran in the Nike React Infinity Run experiencing injury.

Bottom line: if you are ready to hit the streets (or the treadmill) and want to keep your body in tip-top shape, this might be the shoe for you. And while you're at it, don't forget the basics to avoid injuries like warming up before running and doing recovery work like foam rolling after your runs.
