At the end of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on April 20, Miss Val spoke to Pac-12 Network. In a tearful goodbye to her UCLA family, she said, "Bruin Nation, thank you for welcoming a ballerina into the world of athletics and supporting me for many, many years. And buying into a lot of the wacky stuff that I do, and dancing with me and my team even when we don't win."
