Ikea-Style Meatballs

The ultimate comfort meal when the winter months roll round, and it's ready in just 20 minutes. The price-tag may seem hefty, but that's only if you already don't have your kitchen go-to's like milk, butter, and oil. If so, then this hero meal works out at just over a pound per portion, with enough meatballs for the next day.

Combine 300g of beef mince with one grated onion, 2 tablespoons of milk, and chopped slice of bread. Season with salt and pepper, and add one teaspoon of nutmeg and one teaspoon of mixed spice. Combine thoroughly and roll into balls. Fry for three minutes until golden brown on the outside and take them out. Using the same pan, add two tablespoons of butter and two tablespoons of flour. Dissolve beef stock in 500ml of water and add to the pan. Add 120ml double cream to make a nice, thick gravy. Return the meatballs to the sauce and cook for 8 minutes until cooked through.

Estimated cost: £12
